Disney halts TV broadcast of Nat Geo and other owned channels

Disney has pulled the plugged on the broadcast of its channels, including Nat Geo, on cable TV starting October 01, per an update from SKYcable's website.

According to the update, the following channels will no longer be available to all pay TV operators: Baby TV; National Geographic; National Geographic Wild; Star Chinese Movies and; Star Chinese Channel.

This came after the media conglomerate announced last June that it will be closing its remaining channels still broadcasted in Southeast Asia, Hongkong, Korea, and Taiwan, as it pushes consumers to switch to direct-to-consumer streaming.

Disney+ was launched in the Philippines November last year, with streaming access to exclusive content from Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, National Geographic, Star, etc.
